The new GoodKnight® 420E Evolution Nasal CPAP System is the smallest and lightest Auto CPAP device on the market. It is designed to help active sleep disorder patients preserve their lifestyles while complying with their prescribed therapy. The GoodKnight 420E model records up to 600 sessions of date/time usage data (SilverLining® 3 Data Management Software is required to download information onto your computer- sold seperately). It also detects persistent residual apnea, hypopnea and snoring events that occur at set-pressure, allowing appropriate adjustments to therapy.

The new concept of auto-CPAP is based on the Evolution algorithm, in order to deliver the lowest pressure without compromising efficacy. Lower pressure reduces noise, mask leaks and is more comfortable.
The GoodKnight 420 E is designed to respond to apnea but also to indicators of increased resistance in the upper airway such as snoring or inspiratory flow limitation. Inspiratory flow limitation is the early phase of a narrowed air-way, prior to hypopnea or apnea, and allows a predictive treatment. The analysis of the inspiratory flow contour is used as a noninvasive marker of changes in upper airway resistance to automatically adjust CPAP pressure and pre- vents a collapse. For each apnea the GoodKnight 420 E attempts to classify apneas as obstructive which need pressure increases versus central with the presence of cardiac oscillations where further increases in pressure would be counterproductive. Instead of a constant pressure application, the system provides the minimal pressures necessary to control obstructive events at all times. Thus, if the airway remains stable, the pressure is reduced until the minimum level is reached or a respiratory event is detected.
